Important Update: New US Import Tariffs Now in Effect
Hello Everyone,
As anticipated, new tariffs were announced last night and will take effect immediately with a small exclusion period for goods presently on the water and arriving before July 28th. Please see below for full recap.
Section 301 “Forced Labor” Tariffs
New tariff took effect today at 12:01 AM ET on imported wine, spirits, and beer.
Here is the net impact by country/region.
European Union: 10% total, inclusive of general duty rate
Argentina, Canada, Mexico & UK: +10% additional to general duty rate
Switzerland: 12.5% total, inclusive of general duty rate
Australia, Chile, New Zealand & South Africa: +12.5% additional to general duty rate
Exceptions to note:
UK Scotch and Irish whisky are fully exempt from these tariffs
Shipments already loaded and in transit before 12:01 AM ET on July 24 and entered for consumption by 12:01 AM ET on July 28
What's next:
We're waiting on official U.S. Customs and Border Protection guidance on entry filing codes and will share any updates should there be deviations from the official announcement.
