August Peak Season Surcharges & North European Departures
Dear Customers,
We've received notice of a new Peak Season Surcharge of $1.40 per 9L case for shipments departing North Europe on or after August 20th.
This surcharge applies to the following origins:
Austria
France (Le Havre)
Germany
We recognize a PSS was announced earlier this season and later rescinded. That surcharge was based on anticipated seasonal volumes; demand ultimately did not exceed available capacity, and the carriers withdrew it. This one has a different basis: an ocean carrier is exiting the North Europe–North America lanes, taking roughly 8,000 TEUs of weekly capacity off the route.
We and our vendors continue to negotiate with the steamship lines to limit the impact of supplemental costs like these, and we'll let you know immediately if anything changes.
